A Mid-Week Cabin Getaway
Josh and I are extreme last-minute planners, most times when we decide to go on a trip we usually decide approximately 48 hours in advance. This time we were a little more prepared and had roughly two weeks to plan and anticipate this wonderful Cabin Getaway. I have been looking online for the past few weeks to see when the peak foliage is for the Northeast and it appeared to be the last few weeks of October so that was the main reason we planned the trip. I am an absolute fall fanatic and October is my favorite month of the year so we figured why not take some quality family time, unplug from life and enjoy a few days away at a cabin? We packed our own food because of #weird eaters and #tryingtosavemoney. So we could have stayed in our cozy little cabin all weekend if we would have wished to do so, but as you can see we wandered out for a day and got in some fresh mountain air.
We stayed at a cozy cabin nestled in the heart of the mountain and were greeted by lazy deer upon our arrival. It had a fireplace and a fully furnished kitchen and was the perfect little place for us for the weekend.
We got in late Wednesday evening and weren’t able to see any of the scenery around us due to it being dark outside. When we woke up it was magical. We were in the middle of the woods with a soft blanket of fog on the ground and dew dripping off of the evergreens. At dawn, there was a little family of deer that made their way to our cabin and visited with us for a few hours before lazily moving on by.
There you have it. Our little mid-week cabin getaway. It was just what we needed and refreshed our souls. If you have the chance to take a little getaway with your family, or maybe just by yourself, take it! You won’t regret it.
Until Next Time -
Carrie
