Floating Shelves- Before & After
This type of blog post is most certainly not my specialty but you know me, I talk about anything and everything that sparks my interest. These most certainly did! I have been following along with a blog that I love so much and have been so inspired by her to truly turn our house into our home and love every-space of it! It’s been a process and has taken time for me to figure out my style but i enjoy it so much! I’ve finally figured out my interior style to be french-country, look it up on pinterest, I think its divine!
This all started one day when I decided to buy a bigger book case but figured I should consult my sister first since she is always the one I ask home interior and style advice from. She suggested instead of a bigger bookcase to just buy some floating shelves and use them for my books and as a way to incorporate more decor into the house as well. I was sold! Now the thing to realize is that our walls are not conventional dry wall. They are 100% cement. Yes you read that right. They are concrete walls that, in order to hang anything, you need to drill holes and then use masonry screws to fasten things. Taking that into consideration I knew that I had to be absolutely sure that I wanted to do this because drilling 50 holes in a wall isn’t an easy task. It was only supposed to be about 24 holes, but ya know, it was an experiment, that’s all i’ll say.
I’ll spare you all the instructions and boring directions and just show you a little bit of the process, the before and afters. The fun stuff!
And here is the finished product! I am so pleased with how it turned out. Now I finally have a place to stash *most of my essential oils. I’m still trying to figure out the decoration of it since i’ve never really done anything like this before but I am so happy with how it’s coming together.
There you have it! Just a simple little Before & After that hopefully sparked something creative in your imagination! And remember, decorate your home for you, not everyone else. I’ve learned to make my home what feels cozy and homey for me.
